DON’T PANIC!!! Everyone has a space between the 2 rectus abdominus (or “6-pack”) muscles. A normal space is about 0.5 cm which is about the distance between two of your knuckles for those of you measurement-challenged people like myself!!! It’s fairly common after birth and while many women will spontaneously recover in the first 8 weeks postpartum, about 40% will have a separation that persists at the 6 month mark (Mota et al, 2014) and beyond.
I’m happy to report that about 90% of women experience dramatic improvements in both the look and strength of their midsections after completing my comprehensive 6 week DRA/Core Restore program regardless if they start when they are 6 weeks postpartum or 6 years postpartum!
